Erik Swensson, MD FACS
Specializing in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Wound Care and Trauma
Dr. Swensson, board certified in general and vascular surgery, earned his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Swensson practiced in Richmond, Virginia until he moved to Oregon in 1997. He started McMinnville Medical & Surgical Associates and maintained this practice until he joined Willamette Valley Medical Center in 2006.
Dr. Swensson is also involved with the Wound Care Clinic. He is an active member of the hospital staff and serves on the Medical Executive Committee, the Trauma Committee and is a member of the Physician’s Leadership Program.
MANUEL GIGENA, MD, Board Certified, General Surgery
Dr. Gigena, board certified in general surgery, received his medical degree from Cordoba National University in Cordoba, Argentina. He completed his surgical residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey and University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He volunteered extensively in Argentina and Ohio before joining McMinnville Surgical Associates.
KATAYUN (KATY) IRANI, MD
Katayun Irani earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in New York (summa cum laude) and her medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She completed her surgical internship and residency at New York University Medical Center. Irani completed a research fellowship at Harvard at the Center for Regenerative Medicine and a clinical fellowship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, where she was a bariatric fellow.
SANDEEP KUMAR, MD
Sandeep Kumar earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and his master’s in biomedical engineering at the University of Iowa. He earned his medical degree at the University of Iowa, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine where he earned a summer fellowship and a research distinction tract. Kumar completed an internship and residency in surgery at Oregon Health and Science University. As a volunteer, he has served at St. Martha’s Hospital in Bangalore, India.
